Trip.com discounts for new customers
What a first-time Trip.com customer actually gets — the automatic welcome discount, the new-user codes worth pasting, and exactly how to claim each one.
The welcome offer
Trip.com's headline new-customer perk is automatic: sign in to a brand-new account and you get up to 10% off your first hotel booking (capped at £9), plus 5% off a second booking. New users also get 5% off UK & EU train tickets. No code is involved — the discounted price shows once you're signed in.
New-user codes on top
Several first-order codes are reserved for new accounts:
- TRIPCAR8 — 8% off your first Trip.com car rental, entered at checkout.
- MSETRIPRC08 — £8 off a digital Railcard (a one-year card drops to £27); enter it at sign-up, then buy any train ticket within 180 days to activate the card.
- MSETRAIN2 — £2 off your first UK train ticket, no minimum spend.
- TRAIN10 — 10% off South Korea train bookings, no cap.
How to activate it
- Create the Trip.com account before you start searching — the new-user hotel and train discounts only appear on signed-in prices, so register first and the lower rate shows from the first search.
- For the automatic welcome discount there is nothing to paste: the reduced price is applied at checkout once you're signed in to the new account.
- For the new-user codes, paste the code in the promo-code field at checkout (or at sign-up in the case of MSETRIPRC08) before paying.
Conditions to know
- An account is required for every new-customer offer — none of them work logged out.
- The 10% hotel discount applies to the first booking only and is capped at £9; the second booking gets 5%.
- The new-user codes are one per account and only valid while you qualify as a new user; MSETRIPRC08 requires a train-ticket purchase within 180 days to activate the Railcard.
- MSETRAIN2 has no minimum spend, so it works even on a cheap single fare.
What stacks with it
The £2-off train code (MSETRAIN2) stacks with the £8-off Railcard deal, so a new user can claim both on the rail side. The welcome discount is account-based, so it also combines with auto-applied sale prices and with Trip Coins earned on the booking — they're separate mechanisms, not competing codes.
Already booked before?
Existing customers aren't locked out of everything. Use MSETRIPRC10 for 10% off a digital Railcard and MSETRIP2 for 2% off a UK train ticket. Every booking also earns Trip Coins you can spend like cash (about £0.73 per 100 coins), and the refer-a-friend scheme pays up to £10 in Trip Coins when a friend completes a flight or hotel booking — plus a Traincard with 4% off rail travel for 30 days for both of you.
